Research
My academic work investigates through quantitative and qualitative methods how the design and meaning of space influence crucial economic and social outcomes such as new venture creation, knowledge-worker productivity, and responsible business practices. Specifically, my research program falls into two streams.
The first how physical and social structures within workspaces shape knowledge production and inclusion. I have a particular interest in how space design can have (un)intended consequences on marginalized individuals and on how organizations are planning spaces that lie beyond organizational boundaries (e.g., homes and third places).
The second stream investigates how neighborhood structures and urban physical and social infrastructures shape entrepreneurship and and in particular startups' founders and workforce.
